Sighting

Good buddy Billy sent me this link in e-mail yesterday because it contains a reference to Green Chili Burp and the Aftertaste. He also asked about the reference to Screaming Asparagus mentioned in the page (you can see both references in the fourth paragraph of the text).

I have no idea who the author of this piece is. I don't recognize the name, and given that the publication is in Virginia, well, you decide. But I'm going to guess that this person has more than just a passing knowledge of Green Chili. Here's why:

Mark Murray, the producer I worked with to get the Green Chili CD done, was originally in a band from Lubbock called Asparagus Nightmares. Screaming Asparagus == Asparagus Nightmares?

Actually, a quick Google turned up this page, which lists both Green Chili Burp and the Aftertastes (which was mis-spelled this way by the author of the article) and Screaming Asparagus. So, much as I would like to think that Green Chili music had somehow touched the life of this particular author, I think he just went on an quick Google search of unusual band names to use in his work and by the absolutely strangest coincidence, he happened to pick two random band names that had much more in common than he could have realized.

Anyway, it made for a really weird "ooooooOOOOOOOOOOOooooooh" moment last night...

Style

So I now have three blogs I'm trying (and generally failing) to keep active. This one (and you can see how infrequently I've been posting), Lessons Learned, and the new On Q. While I was setting up On Q, I got to thinking about the reasons I've ben blogging and why on earth I wanted to start another. Looking at the blogs as a whole, I realized that each one had its own individual personality, its own style.

In The Q Continuum, I keep the posts personal, light (when possible), and have no set topic or agenda. Each post has a single-word title (from which I deviated only once, and that was the original post), which gets harder and harder to pull off, let me tell you.

In Lessons Learned, I've put together a few "how to" documents for technical aspects of running Macintosh computers and SBS networks. Not much commentary, mostly technology.

in On Q, I needed to have a place to store my ramblings related to my business, more in the style of the Continuum, but stuff that I would write if my employer paid me to write a blog. You know I work for myself, right?

So here I am, one individual, but in eachof the three blogs I've got, I'm maintaining a different personality. Kinda like when I go to my networking meetings and then baseball games. Completely different purposes, completely different wardrobes.

i guess I knew that I played different roles between work and real life, but every once in a while, I'm reminded of it in a more obvious way. Like with blogging. Go figure.

Champions!

The Denton Outlaws won the Texas Collegiate Leage Championship series tonight with a 3-1 win over the rival McKinney Marshals. Corey Kluber pitched a masterpiece for the Outlaws, going 8+ innings of two-hit, one-run ball. He left the game in the bottom of the 9th inning after giving up a leadoff single. He averaged just over 10 pitches per inning, leaving the game having thrown 90 total pitches, and had a perfect game through the 5th inning.

The Outlaws scored all of their runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Catcher Brett Lewis hit a single, followed by a double from center fielder Kern Watts. Right fielder Kyle Jones drove both in with a double on the next pitch and then went to third on a wild pitch. Brian Spear brought Jones home with a ground out to second for the second out of the inning.

At the end of thegame, the Outlaws were presented with the league trophy, and Corey Kluber was named the player of the series for his outstanding performance tonight.

The Outlaws won the best of three series by taking the first and third games. Denton won in McKinney Friday night by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings. McKinney won in Denton Saturday night by a score of 2-1.
